About Tony

Tony is a retired policeman, who subsequently went on to work with the United Nations in some of the most war torn countries of the world. Now retired, Tony's wealth of knowledge and his passion for history has lead him into interactive history talks.

A new challenge for Tony is in educating and informing young people about the trials and tribulations in the life of the ordinary soldier during World War 1. Tony has now created an interactive learning programme for schools. His unique ability to simultaneously educate and entertain through bringing stories vividly to life is a joy to witness and his team ensure the material is relevant to both boys and girls. He makes this turbulent period in history real by telling the stories of individuals who fought and died during ‘the war to end all wars’.

Tony is currently studying for an MA in WW1,  speaks on this subject to a diverse range of groups from large events staged in English Heritage sites to the local rotary and is currently working on a set of novels set in this period.

He has appeared on both The History and Yesterday Channels and appeared at numerous re-enactment events and spoke in a large number of schools. His library is bulging with books on WW1 and he is keen to impart the knowledge he has to both the young and the not so young.

Tony has published two books. His recently published book tells the story of a group of young men from his local town who went to war fighting on the Western Front never to return.  You can buy it here
